une observation lacunaire d’un site en mutation, le potager Agnés Varda, entre 2020 et …

Situé à Ixelles (communes de Bruxelles), entre la rue Louis Ernotte, la chaussée de Boisfort et la ligne de chemin de fer n°26, le potager Agnès Varda rassemble une communauté de potagistes urbains. Dans un futur proche, la commune prévoit la construction de logements sociaux. Trois barres d’immeubles seront construites dans le petit bois qui jouxte les potagers.

Located in Ixelles (Brussels municipality), between Rue Louis Ernotte, Chaussée de Boitsfort, and railway line no. 26, the Agnès Varda garden brings together a community of urban gardeners.
In the near future, the municipality plans to develop social housing on the site. Three residential blocks are scheduled to be built in the small wooded area adjacent to the gardens.

ça aussi, je l’ai trouvé

j’ai trouvé et je l’ai pris, l’était un peu cassé en-dessous et j’ai réparé

faut bouger, moi, maintenant, je suis pensionné et ça sert à rien de rester devant la télévision, non non, 
j’ai 73 ans

ça va vite, c’est grâce à Dieu

j’ai travaillé dans la restauration

et à la fin des 10 dernières années, je l’ai fait ici à l’école européenne, convoyeur, j’accompagne les enfants à l’école, c’est bien

moi, j’ai travaillé tout ma vie à la restauration

j’ai fait mes études ici à Libramont

oui, c’est là que j’ai fait mes études à l’école hôtelière 

c’est presque la frontière française

mais c’est beau Libramont

c’est la campagne, c’est les vaches


j’ai passé deux ans, je te jure, oui c’est bon, oui c’est bon

mais ici c’est la ville, j’aime pas la ville, non

moi, je préfère venir

ici, j’ai la radio

je me repose, je lis

le gazouillement

est-ce que t’entend la ville?

c’est les voitures, non non, moi j’aime bien comme ça

c’est beau

oui, on dit qu’on est …


on est dans la forêt, ça oui oui et bé oui

tu te sens solo

regarde, il y a personne qui te dérange, il y a personne qui vient te dire…

bon, tu te sens vraiment bien isolé

voilà, il y a que la nature qui t’accompagne 

les oiseaux, les arbres qui bougent


tu entends le bruit des arbres et des feuilles qui tombent

c’est vraiment naturel

la ville la ville la ville, marre de la ville

moi, heureusement, j’ai trouvé cette place-là 

heureusement

je dis merci à Dieu, je te jure

parce que…ici…moi…

pendant 5 et 10 jours je vais mettre ici le feu

des sardines sur le bois, de la viande

ah oui, je grille la viande ici

on vient ici avec mon fils

bé oui, regarde, c’est beau

c’est mieux qu’au restaurant

moi, je m’entends très très très bien

on a une asbl ici

mais les potagistes, comme on dit, chacun chez soi

si par exemple, tu as besoin d’un semi de coriandre que tu as de l’année passée ou de fèves


ben, on a le WhatsApp

alors quelqu’un qui dit, j’ai besoin de tel semi et tel semi, on lui donne 

c’est collectif, c’est beau, mais chacun chez soi

par exemple, si tu viens me demander de l’eau au mois d’août

je peux pas te donner, mais les semis, je te donne

mais l’eau ici c’est rare

ceux qui n’ont pas de citerne, ils vont chercher chez eux

à la maison

il faut pas un bidon, deux bidons ici

l’année passée… cette année, ça va

il a plu
cette année, j’ai ramassé tout ça 

regarde, 1000 litres plus ça il fait 200… 300, 300 et 300

ça fait presque 2000 litres

avec ça c’est assez

je gaspille pas beaucoup d’eau

I worked in the restaurant business,
and in the last ten years, I worked here at the European School, as a school escort — I accompanied the children to school. It was nice.

I’ve worked my whole life in the restaurant industry.

I studied here, in Libramont.

Yes, that’s where I did my training — at the hospitality school.

It’s almost the French border.

But Libramont is beautiful —
It’s the countryside, it’s cows.





I spent two years there, I swear. Yes, it was good, really good.

But here, it’s the city. I don’t like the city. No.
I prefer coming here.

Here, I have the radio.

I relax, I read.

The birdsong…

Can you hear the city?

It’s the cars — no, no — I like it like this.

It’s beautiful.

Yes, we say that we’re…

We’re in the forest — that’s right, yes, absolutely.

You feel alone.

Look — nobody bothers you, nobody comes and says anything…

You really feel isolated, in a good way.

It’s just nature that keeps you company.

The birds, the trees swaying.You hear the sound of the trees and the falling leaves.

It’s truly natural.

The city, the city, the city — I’ve had enough of the city.

Me — luckily, I found this place.

Luckily.

I thank God, I swear to you.

Because… here… me…

For five or ten days, I’ll light a fire right here —
Sardines on the wood, some meat.

Oh yes, I grill meat here.

We come here with my son.

Well yes, look — it’s beautiful.

It’s better than a restaurant.

I feel really, really good.

We have a nonprofit here — an ASBL.

But the gardeners, as they say — everyone minds their own plot.

If, for example, you need some coriander seeds from last year, or broad beans —

Well, we have a WhatsApp group.

So if someone says, “I need this seed or that seed,” we give it to them.It’s collective, it’s beautiful — but everyone has their own space.

For example, if you come asking me for water in August —
I can’t give you any. But seeds — I’ll give you.

But water here is rare.

Those who don’t have a tank, they go get water from home.

You need one canister, two canisters here.

Last year… this year, it’s okay.

It rained.

This year I collected all this —

Look, 1000 liters plus that makes 200… 300, 300, and 300 —

That’s almost 2000 liters.

With that, it’s enough.

I don’t waste much water.

100 logements dans des barres et des tours relativement étroites avec 5 étages. Résidences dans un espace arboré. Potagers Varda au premier plan. Rehausse du dernier immeuble au bout de la rue Ernotte. Les villas sont sauvegardées avec du bâti mitoyen autour.

100 housing units are distributed across relatively narrow slab blocks and towers, each with five storeys. The residences are set within a landscaped, tree-lined area. The Varda community gardens appear in the foreground. An additional floor has been added to the last building at the end of Rue Ernotte. The original villas have been preserved and are now surrounded by adjoining constructions.Scénario 2 :

les barres d’immeubles sont en escalier et montent progressivement vers la voie de chemin de fer. En intérieur d’îlot des jardins ouvriers sont proposés. Un équipement collectif se trouve à l’endroit du rond point Ernotte.

Koalath

fr. Créé en 2015, Koalath est une association qui développe un atelier d’édition indépendante (micro-édition) et en coédition (Atelier Graphoui, Alt éditions, Vives voix…). 

Koalath est un lieu de rencontres qui offre espace et temps d’échanges avec des artistes en cours de projet. Les étapes intermédiaires du cheminement font partie de l’ensemble du processus créateur, chacune d’elles est digne d’intérêt. 

Nos pratiques artistiques se nourrissent d'autres champs d’expériences et de connaissances (anthropologie, architecture, urbanisme, géologie, psychologie...) et produisent des réassemblages à travers des pratiques transversales (photos, dessins, vidéos, écritures, installations). À travers elles, nos projets tentent de révéler les différentes strates qui composent le réel. 
Les sites en mutation, les mémoires et les archives dessinent les différentes lignes de recherches d’où émergent les projets de l’association. 

L’atelier d’édition explore différentes formes du livre d’artiste en questionnant la dynamique et l’adéquation entre le contenu et la forme (cahiers, affiches narratives, livres reliés…).

Nos publications, composées d'images et de textes, sont le résultat d'un travail sur le long terme en fonction de protocole particulier à chaque projet. Ils s’accompagnent souvent d’expositions et de productions audiovisuelles.
eng. Founded in 2015, Koalath is an association that develops an independent publishing workshop (micro-publishing) as well as co-publishing projects (with Atelier Graphoui, Alt Éditions, Vives Voix, among others).

Koalath is a meeting space that offers time and room for exchange with artists in the midst of their creative processes. The intermediate stages along the way are an integral part of the overall creative journey—each one is meaningful and worthy of attention.

Our artistic practices draw from other fields of experience and knowledge (anthropology, architecture, urban planning, geology, psychology...) and give rise to new assemblages through cross-disciplinary methods (photography, drawing, video, writing, installations). Through these approaches, our projects aim to reveal the different layers that make up reality.
Sites in transition, memories, and archives shape the various lines of research from which the association’s projects emerge.

The publishing workshop explores various forms of the artist’s book, questioning the dynamic and coherence between content and form (booklets, narrative posters, bound books, etc.).

Our publications—composed of images and texts—are the result of long-term work developed according to protocols specific to each project. They are often accompanied by exhibitions and audiovisual productions.
